Allergy – Asthma
Asthma is a chronic condition involving the respiratory system. Asthma a is a disease that makes the airways occasionally constrict, become inflamed, and are lined with excessive amounts of mucus, often in response to one or more triggers. Asthma is caused by a complex interaction of environmental and genetic factors.
The signs of an asthmatic episode or asthma include wheezing, prolonged expiration, a rapid heart rate (tachycardia), rhonchous lung sounds (audible through a stethoscope), the presence of a paradoxical pulse (a pulse that is weaker during inhalation and stronger during exhalation), and over-inflation of the chest.
Several issues have been associated with asthma:
- Poor air quality,
- Environmental tobacco smoke,
- Viral respiratory infections
- Antibiotic use early in life
- Stress
Several medications have been assigned to treat asthma, one of them is Ventolin which is a fast-acting bronchodilators. Ventolin is used for the relief bronchospasm, generally Ventolin is used to treat asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases.
Another medication is Fluticasone (Flonase/Flixonase); it prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation. Fluticasone (Flonase/Flixonase) is a steroid.
And a very effective medication to treat asthma condition is Ipratropium (Atrovent) which is a drug administered by inhalation for the treatment of obstructive lung diseases. Ipratropium (Atrovent) acts by blocking muscarinic receptors in the lung, inhibiting bronchoconstriction and mucus secretion.
