ANTI-INFLAMMATORY
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, usually abbreviated to NSAIDs or NAIDs, are drugs with analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. Anti-inflammation drugs reduce pain, fever and inflammation. Anti-inflammatory drugs are the most commonly prescribed to patients with arthritis, bursitis, and tendonitis. NSAIDs or anti inflammatory drugs are usually indicated for the treatment of acute or chronic conditions where pain and inflammation are present. Some of the indications of Anti-inflammatory drugs are:

* Reiter's syndrome
* Bursitis
* Tendinitis

According to Green’s statistic, in 2001 Anti-inflammatory medicines accounted for 70,000,000 prescriptions and 30 billion over-the-counter anti-inflammation drugs were sold annually in the United States
The most common used drugs to treat inflammation are: Meloxicam, Piroxicam, Indocid (indomethacin), and adrenocortical steroids used to reduce inflammation called Medrol.
Meloxicam (Mobic/Mobicox) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug used to relieve the symptoms of arthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Osteoarthritis, fever; and as an analgesic, especially where there is an inflammatory component.
Methylprednisolone (Medrol) is a synthetic glucocorticoid drug. It is sold in the USA and Canada under the brand names Medrol and Solu-Medrol.
Like most adrenocortical steroids, Medrol is typically used for its anti-inflammatory effects. The list of medical conditions for which Medrol is prescribed is rather large. Common uses include arthritis therapy and short-term treatment of bronchial inflammation or acute bronchitis due to various respiratory diseases.
Piroxicam (Feldene) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used to relieve the symptoms of rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, primary dysmenorrhoea, postoperative pain; and Piroxicam (Feldene) acts as an analgesic, especially where there is an inflammatory component.
Indomethacin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug commonly used to reduce fever, pain, stiffness, and swellingrheumatoid arthritis.
