Lamotrigine is used for:
Treating certain types of seizures. It may be used alone or with other medicines. It may also be used to delay the occurrence of mood problems in certain patients with bipolar disorder. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Lamotrigine is an anticonvulsant. Exactly how it works is not known.
Do NOT use Lamotrigine if:
- you are allergic to any ingredient in Lamotrigine
Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.
How to use Lamotrigine :
Use Lamotrigine as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- An extra patient leaflet is available with Lamotrigine . Talk to your pharmacist if you have questions about this information.
- Take Lamotrigine by mouth with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.
- Lamotrigine has a bitter taste. Do not crush or chew before swallowing. The tablet may be broken in half if your doctor tells you to do so.
- Continue to take Lamotrigine even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.
- Do not miss any doses. If you miss a dose of Lamotrigine , take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for you next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
