Nystatin is used for:
Treatment of fungal infections of the stomach, intestines, and mucous membranes. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Nystatin is an antifungal. It works by weakening cell membranes of the sensitive fungus. This allows the cell contents to leak out and results in death of the fungus.
Do NOT use Nystatin if:
- you are allergic to any ingredient in Nystatin
Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.
How to use Nystatin :
Use Nystatin as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- Take Nystatin by mouth with or without food.
- Nystatin works best if it is taken at the same time every day.
- To clear up your infection completely, take Nystatin for the full course of treatment. Keep taking it even if you feel better in a few days.
- If you miss a dose of Nystatin , take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
